In the area of active tourism companies in El Portazgo, in Arriondas, there is the Adventure Activities Centre in the Picos de Europa region, which offers services in different forms of active tourism, such as canoeing down the Sella, river rafting in Asturias and the neighbouring region of Cantabria, hiking, climbing, canyoning, quad routes, horse riding routes, paintball…

Together with four other similar companies, Los Cauces Multiaventura forms part of a large leisure and active tourism activities park at the entrance to the Picos de Europa.

12.20 h.– Visit to Sanctuary of Covadonga (Cangas de Onís).

Sanctuary of Covadonga

The Monumental Complex of Covadonga, with the Basilica and the Holy Cave where the image of the Santina (patron saint of Asturias) is venerated, is a place of worship and pilgrimage for all Asturians.

This is where Don Pelayo, the first Asturian king, is buried and where one of the entrances to the Picos de Europa National Park is located. It is a national and international reference as a destination for religious tourism.

13.40 h.– Departure to Benia (Onís).

Through a guided tour you will get to know the Vega de Tordín dairy farm and the cheese factory where you can see and learn about the whole process of making Cabrales Cheese with Protected Designation of Origin (PDO).

Cabrales Cheese is perhaps the most famous in one of the regions with the greatest variety of cheeses in Europe (Asturias has more than 42 varieties of cheese). 15.10 h.– Visit to Sheperds and Gamonéu Cheese Factory.

16.05 h.– Departure to Cangas de Onís.

16.30 h.– Visit to Roman Bridge de Cangas de Onís.

Roman Bridge

The Roman Bridge of the old capital of Asturias, Cangas de Onís. With its famous peraltado arch and two other minor arches that are unequal, the bridge is an old construction located on the river Sella that, although known as the Roman bridge.

It was built during the High Middle Ages in the 13th century, although it could be a reconstruction of an earlier one that would date back to Roman times, as it was based on the layout of the Roman road linking the towns of Lucus Asturum (next to Oviedo) and Portus Victoriae (present-day Santander).

17.00 h.– Departure to Candás.

18.05 h.– Arrival at Candás.
