The workshop concentrates on presenting the added value of ESF and ERDF usage via the LEADER approach. The content of the workshop is based on case studies from different Member States and a survey conducted under the thematic project ‘LEADER/CLLD for citizens and for the European Union’.
The outcomes of the survey and selected case studies will describe following:
- The impact of usage of ESF and ERDF via LEADER approach;
- LEADER/CLLD contribution to the good governance, social innovation, smart villages, capacity building, innovation practice, etc.
The workshop continues with discussion on how LEADER/CLLD can further strengthen the connection between the European Union and citizens via integrated local development and well managed usage of different ESI Funds. Suggestions will be declared for the follow up.

Kristiina Tammets is the Manager of the Tartu Rural Development Association LAG (Estonia) since 2007 and the vice-president of ELARD for 2018/2019. She has been involved in ELARD’s activities since 2007, first as a representative of Estonia and as president of ELARD for 2016/2017. At the end of 2017, she was engaged in the development of an exploratory opinion on the CLLD for the European Economic and Social Committee. She holds a Master of Science degree in Environmental Protection from the Estonian University of Life Sciences.

Marion Eckardt is the manager of the Swedish LAG Lokalt Ledd Utveckling Halland, located in the region of Halland. Formerly she directed two rural LAGs (LEADER Landsbygd Halland and LEADER Kustbygd Halland) and a fisheries LAG (Fiskeomrade Halland). She is the representative of Swedish LAGs in ENDR LEADER/CLLD Subgroup and in ELARD (European LEADER Association for Rural Development), where she is currently vice-president. She is graduated in Geography from the Humboldt University of Berlin.
